Notes on linearity measurements of the Quadra VL-1000 amplifier.
Amplifier input attenuator (3dB) is „on”. Amplifier input power is a half of input port delivered power. Ultimate amplifier power limit: 1240 W.
*Output Power depend on load / dummy load parameters (R-jX).
**The output power of an amplifier is temperature dependent, the ambient temperature and the internal temperature of the amplifier produced by the heat emitted in the amplifier.
As a function of increasing temperature, the output power always decreases. The best thermal conditions for amplifier operation are when the ambient temperature is below 20oC.

Additional remarks
VL-1000 is build with 8 pieces of MRF150 MOS transistors (150 W, to 150 MHz, N–CHANNEL MOS, LINEAR RF POWER FET).
Each of them has 150W nominal output single transistor power and total 300W dissipation. (Total Device Dissipation @ TC = 25°C, Derate above 25°C 1.71 W/°C).
Nominal power output is 8 x 150 = 1200W and total dissipation power is 2400W @25°C.
Assuming parameter Efficiency = 45% (Typ), total dissipation power is 2667W. And such a power is delivered from Quadra Power Switching Supply VP-1000 @1200W amplifier RF output.
